As part of its ongoing international cooperation initiatives, Karshi State University has launched a short-term professional development program at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)—one of Malaysia’s leading higher education institutions. Participating in this training are Zulqaynar Nazirov, Head of the Department for Quality Assurance in Education, and Farrux Aminov, Specialist from the Department of International Rankings and Accreditation. The visit aims to study the practices of USM, which ranks in the Top 401–500 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings and holds a position in the Top 14 of the THE Impact Rankings for Sustainability. During the program, KSU representatives became acquainted with various USM centres and structural units. Under the guidance of Professor Irfan Naufal Umar, Director of the Centre for Quality Assurance, they received insights into the formation of academic programs and how curricula align with the standards of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). They also participated in a session with Professor Azura Rashid, Director of the Self-Accreditation Centre at the engineering campus, where they shared experiences and strategies for accreditation processes. The program further included visits to several key academic and research units, such as the Centre for Development of Academic Excellence, the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, the Laboratory Management Unit, and the Global Archaeological Research Centre. These engagements provided exposure to modern teaching methodologies, digitally managed laboratory systems, and research infrastructure development. This professional training program represents a strategic step for Karshi State University in its pursuit of global best practices, continuous improvement of education quality, and advancement in international university rankings.
