The department "Pedagogy" was established in March 1964 on the basis of the social sciences and humanities. Professor M. Ochilov, associate professors N. Khamraev, S. I. Usmanov, Zh. K. Khalikov, D. Kultaev, B. Khidirova, G. Kh. Mazitova, M. Kh. Mazitova worked here.
The following professors-teachers of the department "Pedagogy" worked as heads of the department: Tatarskaya Idea Efimovna (1964-1966), Baratov T.B. (1966-1970), Usmanov S.I. (1970-1972), Ochilov M.O. (1972-1983), Khamraev N.Kh. (1983-1985), Choriyev A.Ch. (1985-1996; 1999-2003), Eshmuradov E.E. (1996-1999), Fayzullaeva N.S. (2003-2006), Sakhibov A.R. (2007-2013), Dzhumaeva N.E. (2013- 2018), Sakhibov A.R. (as of 2018).
Currently, the department has 11 candidates of pedagogical sciences and 5 teachers. The scientific potential is 44%. Professors and teachers of the department "Pedagogy" work in all faculties and areas of the university.
The department trains bachelors in the direction 5110900-Pedagogy and psychology (full-time, part-time, 2nd specialty), and undergraduates in the specialties 5A110900-Pedagogical theory and history.

During 2021-2023 teachers of the department Karakhanova O., Murodova Z., Sattorova M., Berdiyeva G., Sultonov A., Radjabova L. defended their dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Pedagogical Sciences. In subsequent years, professors and teachers of the department published a number of textbooks, manuals, monographs. Including the textbook and study guide "Development of Pedagogical Thought" by the heads of the department Sohibova A., Murodova Z. "General Pedagogy", Karakhanova O. "Comparative Pedagogy", Kurbanova A. "Comparative Pedagogy" Llanma, Ismoilova Yu., S. Begmatova and N. Khudjayarova published textbooks called "General Pedagogy". The teachers of the department have published scientific articles at the international and national level. In particular, they took part in an international conference with 26 articles, as well as 20 articles in international scientific journals and 18 articles in journals administered by republican scientific journals.

Since 2022, the department has a 13.00.01 candidate of the theory of pedagogy and the history of pedagogical studies (basic doctoral studies). Future personnel, who are expected to become specialists of the department, can work in public and private schools.
Cooperation of the department with international and national universities and ITM.
